THOMAS WEATHERALL
Thomas Weatherall is a Kamilaroi writer and actor. His debut play BLUE premiered in 2023 at Belvoir Theatre as part of Sydney Festival in a sold-out and critically acclaimed world premiere season in which he also starred. A delicate and personal work, BLUE examines masculinity, familial grief, mental health, love and loss through an honest and brutal lens, as both Thomas and his character search for a more hopeful way forward. BLUE was commissioned by Belvoir Theatre as part of the Balnaves Fellowship.
Thomas won a Silver Logie and an AACTA Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Drama for his performance as Malakai in Netflix’ HEART BREAK HIGH Season 1. After making his professional acting debut in 2018, in ABC’s award-winning series DEADLOCK, Thomas began a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting at QUT. During his second year, Thomas joined the lead cast of Network Seven drama series RFDS and was subsequently named as one of Casting Guild Australia’s Rising Stars for 2020. Thomas’ other television credits include ALL MY FRIENDS ARE RACIST and TROPPO with the ABC. In 2021, Thomas made his professional stage debut in FOLLOW ME HOME produced by ATYP at Griffin Theatre. Thomas is working in writers’ rooms for television and has several writing projects in development. |
